MagIQ Square - a new number game with ancient roots. If you liked Sudoku, youll love this!
The MagIQ Square game makes it possible to solve thousand-year old puzzles on your 21st century phone. It requires logic and strategic thinking as well as some mental arithmetics. You can play it just for fun, or you can compete against yourself, your friends - or the rest of the world, if you wish. Are you ready for the challenge?
So what is a magic square? It is simply a square arrangement of consecutive numbers so that all rows, columns and diagonals add up to the same sum. The concept is believed to have originated in China some time BC and slowly diffused to medieval Europe via Persia, India and Arabia. Magic squares have tantalized mathematicians for centuries and have been associated with mystical properties and hidden messages - perhaps most recently in Dan Brown’s novel “The Lost Symbol”.
In the MagIQ Square game, you start with a scrambled square of numbers, and move them into a magic square using as few moves as possible. The number of possible start configurations is vast: over 20 trillions! To make things more manageable, an adjustable number of tiles are locked into the right positions when the game starts. The number of locked tiles determines the level of difficulty (the more locked tiles, the easier). There are currently seven levels available in the premium version, and one in the free version. You can compete against others using the high score list. There is a separate list for each game level. Time is used as a secondary parameter, to separate results with equal number of moves.
